About the software

Disk-O: is a program that allows you to work with your clouds in one place: on your computer. By doing so, files no longer take up space on your device, as they are stored only in your clouds. The program works with Mail.ru, Yandex.Disk, Google Drive, and Dropbox clouds, as well as other storage platforms.

Turn your clouds into hard drives

When you connect to a cloud using Disk-O:, it will appear on your computer as a regular hard drive. This allows you to work with files using the usual OS interface, without any internet-based delays. If you are disconnected, nothing happens to your files; it’s just the same as pulling out a flash drive.

Files are synchronized

When you upload a file onto the cloud in your browser, it is displayed on your computer within a couple of seconds. And vice versa: when you transfer files from your desktop to the connected drive, you will immediately see it in your browser. It is exactly the same when deleting or creating folders: any action is synchronized between the cloud on your computer and the browser.

One app for multiple clouds

Disk-O: supports clouds from the major storage platforms: Mail.Ru Cloud, Yandex.Disk, Dropbox, Google Drive, Box. Gather all of your clouds together on your computer using Disk-O:, so that you never have to switch between them in a browser.

It works with files in any program

Creating and editing files online isn’t always entirely convenient. Using Disk-O:, you can open and create files on your computer, and then view them in a cloud via a browser. Work with Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and AutoCAD files right on your computer, without having to download anything from the cloud.

Application settings

To access the app’s settings, click ⚙ → ”Settings”.

Application autostart

Tick the box to make Disk-O: start up when the computer is switched on.

When autostart is switched on, files will be synchronized while you are performing other tasks on the computer. When you need to work with a cloud, the files will already have been synchronized.

Remember files

Tick the box to make Disk-O: analyze the files that you use most often and save them on the computer. As a result, important files will be accessible even when the internet is not working.

To designate the files for quick access, click on “Change”.

In the “Cache for file storage” section, drag the slider to the right or left, in order to increase or decrease the space for storing files.

To find out how to change the location for saving data, please see the next section, entitled “Location of app data”.

Location of app data

By default, Disk-O: saves its data onto the system hard drive. In order to change the drive and folder where the app stores its data, go to the “Files for quick access” section and click on “Change”.

Then click on “Configure path for file storage on the PC” and select a new folder.

Disk-O: will store service-based data in this folder. Do not alter or delete this, or the app may experience errors.

Synchronize folders

Select the files and folders on the cloud that are to be made accessible without the internet. By using this, working with your files will be much quicker since they will be stored on the computer.

In order to change the folders and files that can be accessed without the internet, click on “Select”.

Tick the checkboxes of the required folders and files. In order to configure synchronization for another cloud, click on the name of the current one and then choose the one you need from the list. To save your changes, click “Close window”.

To find out how to change the location for saving data, please see the section entitled “Location of app data”.

Synchronization

There is two-way synchronization between a cloud and Disk-O:. If you delete a file from a cloud in the web-based version, the file is also deleted from the folder on your computer, and vice versa. The same is true for uploading, new folders, and other actions.

Temporary files

When you copy files on to a drive created by the Disk-O: app, they are first downloaded into a temporary folder on the system hard drive. While synchronization with the cloud service is in progress, the files are held in a temporary folder, and after the download has been completed, these files are deleted.

To find out how to change the location for saving data, please see the section entitled “Location of app data”.

Synchronization speed

The speed of synchronization is different for various cloud services. It is limited by the services themselves. Therefore, the time taken to upload one and the same file to different cloud-based storage platforms can vary.

Icon descriptions

When the app icon in the task bar is rotating, that indicates that files are being synchronized. When the icon turns white and ceases to rotate, the files have been synchronized. Do not switch off your internet connection or computer until the synchronization has been completed, otherwise, some files may not be fully uploaded to the cloud service.

PC memory utilization
Why Disk-O: stores files on the computer

  2. Clear the “Remember files” checkbox.

You have specified data for offline access. If you have specified files and folders that need to be accessed without the internet on a cloud, a copy of them will be saved on the computer and automatically synchronized when you are connected to the internet.

In order to delete the files that are accessible without the internet:

  1. Go to the application settings.
  2. Click “Select” in the “Synchronize folders” section.
  3. Untick the checkboxes of the files that you need to remove from offline access.

Download acceleration has been disabled. If the option for file download acceleration has been disabled, Disk-O: first downloads the files into a temporary folder on the system hard drive. While synchronization with the cloud service is in progress, the files are held in a temporary folder, and after the download has been completed, these files are deleted. If file download acceleration has been disabled, the files will not be stored in a temporary folder. Do not alter the contents of the folder for service-based data or the contents of the files in this folder, or the data may be lost.
